Would you like fries with that? This has become the marketing byline of not only the fast-food industry, but also the internet marketing industry. With every new product release marketers jump on the band wagon to offer you the opportunity to upsize your order by choosing their affiliate link and getting mega bonuses. And often when you place an order you are tempted by an OTO (One Time Offer) to upsize your purchase.

It seems lie a good deal, and indeed it is IF you need the products and/or IF they fit your market. However, if they dont, it is just like the extra calories in that box of fries. Where a small box would ease the hunger pains, the extra large leaves you feeling bloated. Well, you are not alone by any means. Most of us internet marketers have stuffed ourselves with the free gifts offered on the chance we might be able to use them and now we have so much we dont even know what we have. How many unused products do you have stored on your computer? Do you ever know? Are there so many youve lost track? Is it time to rethink your diet and practice better eating habits?

I dont often have the time to watch Oprah, but I did today and one of the guests who had on had written a book called Blink, which was about how what we see around us affects us more than we know. They had done a study with some surprising results. I then watched Dr. Phil, who was talking with a beautiful young woman who had eaten her way to over 500 lbs and who had lost her daughter and her life to her obsession for more food.

Its difficult not to succumb to the temptation of more the latest new product that is going to change your life or make you a millionaire overnight and that is what the gurus or big dogs are counting on. Perhaps you have even been guilty of promoting this process yourselfsending out emails on products you know nothing about except that some of the top names in internet marketing are promoting it.

The third thing that happened today was that I received my monthly BANABU letter from Mike Kemski and his message struck home. His message was the same one Id heard before, a message that makes a lot of sense when you think about it. He said to stop and think about what you are buying before you press that pay button. Does it fit with what you are marketing? Do you know what you are marketing? Are you focused?

Making money online, just like dieting, requires willpower and focus on your long term goal. It means starting slowly with one small step at a time, focusing on perfecting that one step before moving on to the next step. Shedding the weight of that overloaded hard drive and choosing what works for you.

The first step is to decide on your market and your product, to look at your competition. The next is to set up your marketing plan free or pay per click, traffic exchanges, forums, article marketing and/or email. Then step by step you will achieve your goal.
